The Oral History of Menswear Blogging
Good looks thisfits. I’m mad that A) I wasn’t in on this (as always). and B) Guys like Vincent from onandbeyond don’t get any credit, he was doing the girls in menswear long before anyone else and I know by 2014 menswear bloggers will realize there’s more to the spectrum than just tailored goods and awkward workwear.
I think a lot of contributors included in this discussion (exc. nick cause he is the obvious risk taker of the bunch), see streetwear as immature or not on par with time tested and true italian style and americana. Streetwear imo with brands like Visvim are doing refreshed and updated classics that represent both tailored goods (high water chinos, university blazers etc) and also americana (hiking boots, m-65s etc).. but are in a lot of ways doing it better than the original. Granted with untested trends, there are a lot of terrible streetwear brands out there, however, I don’t think streetwear as a whole should be discounted. It should be seen as an opportunity to experiment with and escape the restrictive nature of #menswear.
cheers to another superfuture & hypebeast alum
